In our latest interview we sat down with VCU alum Mike’l Simms, who is currently playing in Brazil. This interview took place in a McDonald's due to wifi issues, so a huge thank you to Mike'l for making this interview work! This marks an Expat Hoops first (well, the McDonald's, not the wifi issues).

Before his professional career began, the Highland Springs, Virginia native spent a year at Bull City Prep and one season at Cowley Community College before joining the Rams for the remaining 3 seasons.

Mike'l graduated from VCU in May 2020. Right in the midst of the pandemic. Hear about how he tried to navigate not only the global pandemic but trying to start his professional basketball career. While there was a stop-start nature to how it began, he's now in Brazil playing for União Corinthians and among the league leaders in minutes.
